I thought that the concept of The Future of Us was both unique and interesting. It’s set back in 1996 when computers and AOL first came out and were becoming popular. The lead girl, Emma, got a brand new computer from her estranged father when he feels guilty for having a new baby. Her neighbor/best friend and lead male Josh is the one who gives her the free hours AOL disk that we all probably had at one time! As soon as she signs on for the first time she’s prompted to sign in again, only this time it’s not for AOL but for a site titled “Facebook”. She soon realizes that the facebook page is actually her website from fifteen years in the future. Both happy and depressed at times with what she sees (although its always changing) she comes to the realization that what she does in 1995 can drastically change what happens to her in 2011, from small things like what she eats for dinner all the way to huge things like who she marries! Over all I would recommend this book for people to read, my only flaw with the book was how abruptly it ended. I found myself wondering is the authors were late on their deadline and just finished it rather then taking the time to explain things out.

When I got this book for Christmas and read the side panel I couldn’t wait for the new year to begin so I could read it, and it did not disappoint. The story starts out with the main character Liz waking up on her families yacht on the morning of her eighteenth birthday to find her life completely turned upside down when she finds her own body floating in the water, dead. You quickly realize that the main character is actually her ghost who cannot move on to the afterlife until she figures out the details of how she died. Shortly after she is found dead she meets someone who can see her, her classmate Alex who was killed the year before in a hit and run. They end up working together to help each other find out what happened, her on the boat and who hit him. There is lots of drama and details to the story that make it an interesting story you won’t want to put down!
